Founded in 1979, PTR was converted to a "GmbH" company in 1980, producing terminal blocks for printed circuit-board assemblies. A year later, PTR's current premises at the Wahrbrink Industrial park, a manufacturing and administration unit was set up, followed by extensive development to keep up with the competition and growth of the market.

Even as they continued to expand in 1988, PTR was acquired by the Phoenix Mecano AG, in 1989 allowing it to enter international markets.

PTR is certified in accordance with EN 29001 / DIN ISO 9001 and is reaudited annually to maintain its high quality standards. Influenced by the prospects of future generations and an increasing awareness of environmental responsibility, PTR was also certified to DIN ISO 14001 and proactive environmental management became a key policy at PTR.

PTR has responded to market globalisation by extending its distribution network to cover all major countries in the world. In 26 countries of the world, qualified contacts ensure that its products are available at short notice and provide a range of key services to assist customers.
